Exploring The Cotswolds
Ever since I saw Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet trade homes in the Holidays it has been on my list to travel to The Cotswolds. So I decided this fall was the perfect time to explore the english country side and finally spend a few days at the Soho Farmhouse. The trip did not dissapoint and despite having to stay in a tent (don't ask) it was every bit as magical as I imaged it would be.
Soho Farmhouse is a short 1 hour and 30 minute train ride from London and well worth the visit if you have the time. I booked a business class ticked from Paddington Station to Charlbury Station. The farmhouse is just a short 13 minute drive from the station and has beautiful views all along the way. Once you arrive at the farmhuse you are greated at the guest house with tea and coffee then shuttled to your room in a milk truck. Every direction you look this place feels like a movie set, no detail has been missed. My tent wasn't ready so I immediatly dropped off my bags and went to explore the grounds by bike. I had a feeling right away that I was not going to be bored here, there is a indoor/outdoor pool, full gym with spinning and yoga classes, a theater, spa, cooking school, shops and more fireplaces than you can imagine. Basically my heaven! The only downside I realized was that the only way I was able to secure a place to sleep at the farmhouse was to book a "tent". The pictures on the internet made it look pretty fancy so I figured it would be great. In all honesty I did not think about how cold it might be in November and I had the unfortunate experience of a rain and wind storm the first evening, that would prevent me from using the wood burning fireplace. Needless to say it was damp, cold and noisy and I didn't sleep well during my time there but with all the other things going on it was a small price to pay. Next time I'll be booking a full room or cottage!
